Kai’s focus was on maximizing storage in the 160-square-foot room. She started by closing off a tiny closet and replacing it with custom cabinets, which hold everything from clothes to toys, as well as a bookshelf and a chest of drawers. A bunk bed conserves floor space (and her son, Louis, loves it). A nearby couch, topped with two coordinating Kantha quilts, doubles as an extra bed for sleepovers and a dreamy reading nook. A bright striped rug, patterned bins and quirky animal masks hung like art add personality to the playful kids’ space.
